REQUIREMENTS FOR COMMUNICATION EQUIPMENT SAMPLES

Requirements for samples that must be met for testing in terms of built-in communications.

General Requirements:

An end product with built-in communication modules (e.g., laptop, tablet, monitor, audio system, etc.) is required for testing.

In general, the samples should be provided with:

- all accessories necessary for the device to operate in standard mode in the terminal product with the possibility of connecting them, antennas (antenna blocks, intelligent antenna systems), power cables (including antenna power cables), power sources (if necessary), wired communication cables for connecting external devices, antenna cables, other electronic equipment connected to the device (in agreement with the testing laboratory), at the same time, a technical manual for connecting and putting the device into operating modes should be attached (the device manufacturer should have a technical support service in the Republic of Belarus).

- the minimum configuration of the tested wireless communication module must include the SMA connector (connectors) connected to the module for connecting the external antenna, indicating the characteristics of the external antenna, and the technical manual for connecting and bringing the device into operation modes must be attached (preferably, the device manufacturer has a technical support service in the Republic of Belarus), and the software to control the communication module during tests must follow with the communication module.

To test a large-size sample of products with integrated communication modules, it is necessary to provide a sample (samples) of modular units of the final product, in which communication modules are built-in, with the device for connection to the power supply and with test auxiliary equipment, providing connection and control of the module, as well as, software for activation and control of the communication module. If it is impossible to provide a sample(s) of modular units (electronic units) - it is required to provide communication modules with a device for connection to the power supply network and with test auxiliary equipment, providing connection and control of the module, as well as, software for activation and control of the communication module (software requirements).

Examples of modular (electronic) blocks

If the communication module and the final product are designed in such a way that the communication module in the final product can be replaced with an identical module of another manufacturer under laboratory conditions without the need to interfere with the chips of the final product (for example, the module can be installed in the interface, connector of the final product) and the housing of the final product provides the possibility to perform this operation (collapsible housing or housing with a window for module replacement, or an external connector for module connection) - in this case, to conduct tests it is sufficient to provide the final product shall be tested with all embedded communication modules with which it can be placed on the market of the Republic of Belarus.

If the final product enclosure does not provide for the possibility of replacing the communication module under laboratory conditions or if testing requires intervention into the chips of the final product (soldering, etc.) - in this case, all variants of the final products with built-in communication modules must be provided for testing. In this case, the samples should be equipped with SMA connectors connected to the wireless communication modules to connect an external antenna.

In any case, all possible combinations of communication modules in the final product must be tested.

As a rule, requirements to samples for testing of radio-electronic equipment may differ depending on the purpose of the equipment, applied communication technologies, operating conditions, therefore we recommend contacting representatives of accredited testing laboratories of the Republic of Belarus in each specific case to clarify requirements.

Requirements for control software for modular final product units and/or communication modules

Tests of embedded communication modules are carried out in automatic mode.

The software must:

- be installed on a personal computer or laptop (Windows 10 operating system);

- - provide the ability to search, select a wireless connection to a wireless access point via a software interface from a computer or laptop (the selection and connection to a wireless access point is carried out by a test operator).

In the case of testing the communication module on the example of the module Wi-Fi/Bt for the refrigerator

Tests of the built-in communication modules are carried out in automatic mode.

The following related equipment is required for testing (if there is no refrigerator):

- the electronic part (motherboard) of the refrigerator;

- communication module with soldered SMA connector (s) connected to the electronic part (motherboard);

- a device for controlling the electronic part of the refrigerator (with the ability to search, select a wireless connection to a wireless access point via a software interface).

The equipment must have a device or connector for connecting to the power supply network.

Devices that use cellular communication modules (GSM, UMTS, LTE, 5G IMT2020)

They must additionally contain an interface for installing a test SIM card
